Web Hosting Control Panels

|

There are many web hosting control panels out there these days, but from my experience there are a large number that no one has even heard about. The goal of this article is to build a list of Linux hosting controllers with cost, brief features, and links to their web pages.

VHCS

VHCS is developed and maintained under an OpenSource liscense. The developers offer support and professional install for a pretty reasonable price (check website). Supported platforms include: Fedora, Red Hat Linux, SuSE, and Debian woody and sarge.

Comments: VHCS is a complete package. Full administrator, reseller, and end user control panels. This is ideal for reseller hosting environments. The GUI for VHCS is also much more appealing than many of the other OpenSource Control Panels available.

RavenCore

RavenCore is a free solution programmed mainly by a single developer. The goal was to provide an OS independent control panel. The community forums are relatively active and the developer usually gets updates posted to the site once a week or so.

Comments: The control panel offers a number of essential features like mysql database setup and phpmyadmin, email configuration, webmail, awstats, disk quotas, reboot, shutdown, and more. However, the control panel is limited to a single administrative user, not made for reseller capabilities.
